Clean Water Facilities for Children in Landak

Clean Water Facilities for Children in Landak

The photo you see depict the daily reality for children and the community in Landak Regency (West Kalimantan). Currently, their main water sources are rainwater, river water, and relatively shallow boreholes. This situation is particularly prevalent in low-income and rural areas, where infrastructure and resources to meet basic needs are limited. They are unaware of the dangers of consuming contaminated water.

The community uses this water for daily household needs, such as bathing, washing, and even cooking and drinking. The water quality, which is generally unfiltered, is far below hygiene standards and leads to health issues such as diarrhoea, cholera, etc. Furthermore, poor water quality can affect children's growth and development, immune system, and survival.

We invite you to take part in providing clean water facilities for 228 families, or more than 750 adults and children, in Landak. Together, we will build:

  • 2 (two) boreholes for two hamlets in Jelimpo District

  • 1 (one) piped network and a water reservoir for one hamlet in Ngabang District

The local community will be involved in this project. Besides partnering with the village government, the Environmental Agency, and the Health Agency, community members will also be part of the Water Committee responsible for maintaining and managing the assets provided, and enhancing the capacity of its members to carry out their respective roles effectively. We believe that the well-being of children and the community lies in the collective efforts of the community to improve the shared quality of life.

Let's help the children, families, and community in Landak gain better access to inclusive and sustainable clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services.
