The Collaboration between JIU and WVI to Open Access for Higher Education in Indonesia

Jakarta International University (JIU), a private university in the Cikarang – Bekasi area of West Java, holds an accreditation of Good. JIU's mission is to prepare the next generation to become future leaders of Indonesia. This university is a collaborative effort by various education-focused parties from several countries, including South Korea, Japan, China, India, and the United States. To equip future Indonesian leaders with a global perspective, JIU uses English as its language of instruction.
Since 2024, JIU has established Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and cooperation agreements for scholarship provision with several institutions, including Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI). Previously, JIU had already offered opportunities for WVI-assisted children to pursue higher education at JIU with a 100% scholarship, following a set selection process. In 2024, one student, Joshua, from WVI's operational office in Sigi, Palu, and Donggala, successfully received a 100% scholarship for Information Systems and achieved excellent results in his first and second semesters.
In 2025, JIU is once again opening access to higher education for three children from WVI-assisted areas. All three have received 100% scholarships: Anastasia from Manggarai Regency in Japanese Literature, Jenita from Parigi Moutong Regency in Information Technology, and Ida from South Nias Regency in Japanese Literature. In addition to these three, Jessica, a child assisted by WVI's operational office in Sigi, Palu, and Donggala, received a 60.3% scholarship for Accounting. These scholarships from JIU cover tuition fees and accommodation for eight semesters, with the condition that students must maintain a GPA above 3.0.
According to Joshua, who has been studying since 2024, his time at JIU has been very enjoyable. The lecturers are friendly and supportive and willing to help students facing difficulties. The dormitory atmosphere is also comfortable and safe, with a 'Dormitory Mum' who provides guidance and can be consulted on any issues faced by students from outside Java.
Before the academic year begins in August, these new students will participate in a preparation period, meaning they will move into the dormitory in early July. Let's support these new students, and hopefully, in the future, many more WVI-assisted children will be able to receive scholarships at JIU or various other campuses across Indonesia.
